Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter in UFC history, and he is 41 years old. From 2006 to 2012 The Spider won 17 fights in a row, at the highest level of the game. Since losing his title to Chris Weidman in 2013, he is 1-4 with one No Contest. He posted recently on his social network about what he wants next – rematches vs. Michael Bisping and Nick Diaz.

We are three great professionals, what makes the most sense at the moment, is not his fight with any other, but with me, regardless of belt,” wrote Silva. “Regardless of the show, we respect each other, a new fight between us, would be a great fight of gentlemen. Because with Nick, it was a No Contest, we have a story to tell, I’ll wait for you in Brazil. And I’m waiting for you, Mr. Bisping, after your fight with GSP. Exterminate once and for all this doubt of the fans about who really won.

Only seven men beat Anderson Silva. Luiz Azeredo hasn’t fought in half a decade, and never made it to the UFC. Daiju Takase, Ryo Chonan, and Yushin Okami are not in the UFC. That brings us up to the past decade, when only three men beat Silva.

The Spider is 0-2 against Chris Weidman, and there is no interest anywhere in a trilogy fight. Silva lost to a visibly cautious UFC light heavyweight Daniel Cormier; there is no interest anywhere in a rematch.

Silva lost a decision to Michael Bisping just over a year ago. Bisping is now the UFC middleweight champion, and the guy everyone wants to fight. The sport is not impressed that The Count’s first title defense was vs. the not ranked Dan Henderson and the second will against the not ranked Georges St-Pierre. The third defense is not going to be vs. Anderson Silva on a one-fight win streak.

However, a rematch with Diaz is intriguing. The first fight was compelling, and weird. Silva won a decision that was vacated when he failed a PED test. A rematch has a great backstory, and would be interesting and lucrative enough to get Diaz back in the Octagon.

Make it happen Dana White!
