A matchup between two mixed martial arts legends has been booked for September 11. However, it won’t take place in a cage as an MMA fight, but instead in the sweet science of boxing.

Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz on Dela Hoya/Belfort undercard

Wednesday, ESPN reported that Ultimate Fighting Championships greats Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz are set to square off in an eight-round boxing match on the undercard of the planned Triller Fight Club event in September.

The fight will take place on the main card of a pay-per-view event headlined by former Olympic gold medalist and 11-time world champion Oscar De La Hoya battling longtime UFC star Vitor Belfort.

Silva, 46, held the UFC’s Middleweight Championship for 2,457 days, which is a promotion record. He defended the title a record 10 times. The Brazilian most recently competed in the ring in June when he defeated former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a split decision.

Ortiz, 46, has never fought in a professional boxing match. He last competed in mixed martial arts in December 2019. Defeating former World Wrestling Entertainment heavyweight champion Alberto Rodriguez — formerly Alberto Del Rio in WWE — by submission in Combate Americas.

Ortiz last fought in the UFC in 2012, where he once held the light heavyweight championship for 1,260 days and successfully defended the title five times.
