Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva faces a suspension of yet to be determined length after he tested positive for four banned substances, across two tests. However, in an interview with TMZ, Silva said he is not sure exactly why he failed the tests, and called for a rematch with Nick Diaz.

“I don’t know what happened,” said Silva. “I’m surprised. When my manager called me and said ‘Anderson, you have a problem because you go to the test for the commission – is bad.’ I said, ‘What, I don’t know what happened.'”

The interviewer then asked if Silva was just trying to heal his leg.

“Yeah, but I don’t think so,” said Silva. “I need to check all the supplements I use. Because I never faulted for the commission in this sport. I’m very happy, because commission help me, and I help commission. I go to the … work together commission, because I think this is bad for the sport. It’s bad, so bad, for me and my life. And that does nothing to change my performance in the fight.”

Silva was asked if he thought his reputation was damaged.

“I don’t think so,” he said. “Because I go to meeting my doctor, the doctor for commission for tests, for all supplements. When the commission says done, I go back to fight. And I go talk to my fans.”

Silva was asked to comment on the Diaz camp’s call for the decision to be declared a No Contest.

“I think have a rematch with (Nick),” said Silva. “I ready. I respect the commission now. When all this done, I go fight Nick next one.”

Diaz tested positive for the demon weed marijuana, for the third time, and also faces a suspension, perhaps one even longer than Silva, given that it is Silva’s first failed test. So a rematch, should the UFC decide to make, will not be any time soon.
