There are conflicting reports out about the condition of UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s rib. Brazilian reporter Luiz Prota is reporting that Silva has a rib injury, that could potentially threaten his UFC 162 fight vs. Chris Weidman.
However Anderson Silva’s trainer Rogério Camões, denied that “The Spider” has a rib problem. Slva’s manager Ed Soares denied the rumors, telling BleacherReport “he’s fine.”
Further UFC President Dana White told Ariel Helwani flatly that the rumor is false:
Ariel Helwani @arielhelwani
•Regarding a Brazilian report that Anderson Silva is out of 162, Silva’s camp just told me emphatically “that’s not true” multiple times.
•They said he’s totally fine, never injured his ribs etc. etc. No one else seems to know anything about this.
•Along with Anderson Silva’s camp, Dana White just told me the Silva injury report is not true, as well.
The reporter himself hedged his bet, via Twitter:
Luiz Prota @luizprota
Just to make things clear, I haven´t said Spider is out of UFC162 fight. It would depend of the injury´s gravity! If he is ok, that´s great!
