Anderson: Ring rust is bull#!@, doesn’t matter
Megan Anderson: “I personally think cage rust is bull$#!@. I think it’s a mindset. Dominick Cruz, he took two years off and came back and won the belt.”

Top UFC women’s featherweight Megan Anderson spoke at a media scrum at the UFC 225 Open Media Workouts, and discussed her fight Saturday night vs. Holly Holm.
All I can focus on is me and getting my hand raised, said Anderson, as transcribed by John Morgan and Steven Marrocco for MMAjunkie.
Anderson withdrew from a fight vs. Cris Cyborg at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017 for personal reasons. Now she wants to fight, and was game to fight the former champ one division down, but is far from intimidated.
She wasn’t knocking anyone out with her hands at 135, so why would it translate up? asked Anderson. It doesn’t really work that way.
Holm has been disappointed at 145, losing to both Germaine de Randamie and Cris Cyborg in title fights, but Anderson is taking her seriously.
She’s a phenomenal athlete, but I’ve been training super hard, said Anderson. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the cage, and I’ve put in a lot of hard work at the gym. I’m excited to show you all on Saturday night and get my hand raised.
The former Invicta FC featherweight champ hasn’t fought since defeating 9-6, then 40-year-old Charmaine Tweet on 14 January 2017, but is unconcerned about the time off.
I personally think cage rust is bulls***, she said. I think it’s a mindset. Dominick Cruz, he took two years off and came back and won the belt. So clearly, that s*** doesn’t matter.
