Alvarez vs. Melendez co-main at UFC 186 on June 13
Eddie Alvarez and Gil Melendez will fight in the co-main at UFC 188 on June 13 live from Mexico City, Mexico. Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum serves as the main.
Eddie Alvarez doesn’t like Gil Melendez. He hasn’t at least since Alvarez was the Bellator champion and Melendez was the Strikeforce champion, and a cross promotional fight between the two was proposed. The fight never happened, but both fighters signed with the UFC, and at long last, it’s time to get it one because they just don’t get along.
Alvarez and Melendez will fight in the co-main at UFC 188 on June 13 live from Mexico City, Mexico. UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will fight interim titleholder Fabricio Werdum in the main.
Both fighters are coming off losses, Melendez to champ Anthony Pettis via submission at UFC 181 and Alvarez to ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone via decision at UFC 178.
The UFC made the announcement on Monday.
