In the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston, lightweights Anthony Pettis and Eddie Alvarez battled for what possibly was number one contender-ship.

Another tight bout went to a tight decision which hinged on how you scored the only round in dispute.

Former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis returned to action to meet former Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez in the co-feature bout of UFC Fight Night 81 Sunday in Boston.

And with Pettis taking a clear second round and Alvarez a clear third, it came down to how you judged a close opening stanza. Two of the three judges saw it Alvarez’s way, as he scored a 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 split decision.
