UFC on FOX 16 Weigh ins

United Center, Chicago, IL

Friday, 5:00 p.m. ET

There is a Fan Q&A with UFC signee Phil ‘CM Punk’ Brooks AFTER the weigh in, rather than before.

T.J. Dillashaw (135) vs. Renan Barao (135) – for bantamweight title

Jessica Eye (136) vs. Miesha Tate (135.5)

Edson Barboza (155) vs. Paul Felder (155.5)

Takanori Gomi (155.5) vs. Joe Lauzon (155.5)

Prelim Card (FOX, 6 p.m. ET)

Tom Lawlor (203) vs. Gian Villante (205)

Danny Castillo (155.5) vs. Jim Miller (155)

Kenny Robertson (170) vs. Ben Saunders (170.5)

Bryan Caraway (135.5) vs. Eddie Wineland (136)

Prelim Card

Daron Cruickshank (155) vs. James Krause (155.5)

Andrew Holbrook (155.5) vs. Ramsey Nijem (156)

Jessamyn Duke (135.5) vs. Elizabeth Phillips (135)

Zak Cummings (170.5) vs. Antonio Braga (170.5)

The hardcore fanbase anticipates a Tom Lawlor weigh in with glee, and it is has been years. But the wild weigh ins are a casualty of the uniform era.

“What am I going to do?” said Lawlor to Dave Doyle for MMAFighting.com. “I can’t dress up. Reebok doesn’t make a bunch of different outfits for me to wear. They don’t make a Paul Varelans outfit. I can’t throw on a singlet and lifts that make me 6-foot-8. They don’t make a Reebok Don Frye mustache, stuff like that, so I’m kind of stuck just being myself.”

“My favorite one wasn’t in the UFC, it was a New Kids on the Block “Hangin’ Tough” theme. I had the full outfit, I had a headset on, I practiced the dance, I went out there and went nuts for the five minutes of that song. Unfortunately, I never got to do that in the UFC.”

“It’s been a long road to recovery, I had a really bad knee injury, it’s taken a couple of surgeries, you know, I’ve been in the gym, I was ready to fight last year and had another injury and had to pull out. It’s not as if I’ve been sitting around doing nothing the past few years. I’ve been out there training, I’ve been busting my ass in the gym, but I just haven’t been able to fight.”

Saturday he fights the hard hitting Gian Villante, as the final fight on the undercard. The spot reserved for a fight so good that fans will be compelled to stay for the main card.

Don’t miss it.
