UFC president Dana White appeared recently on Brett Okamoto’s 5ive Rounds podcast and announced that featherweight champion Jose Aldo would fight interim champ Max Holloway.

He’s gonna fight Max Holloway, said White. It’s a done deal. We got that fight done last week. … I like it. It’s a fun fight. Holloway has looked incredible in his last few fights and Jose Aldo is Jose Aldo.

The next question of course is when? Unfortunately, White couldn’t remember. Fortunately, FloCombat could, and reports that the fight will be at UFC 212 on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Aldo said late last year that he would be fighting Holloway next, but at the time he said it would be at UFC 208, and that obviously did not come to pass.

Aldo lost his belt to Conor McGregor. However, when Notorious didn’t defend the title, the UFC had Aldo and Frankie Edgar fight for the Interim belt. Then when McGregor won the UFC lightweight belt, he was stripped of the featherweight title, and Aldo was made the full title holder.

However, as Aldo wasn’t immediately ready to fight, Holloway fought Anthony Pettis for the Interim belt. That was a little weird, but all should be clear after 212.
