Aldo to Ireland: Bow down to your king

While most of the focus at the UFC 189 World Tour has been on Conor McGregor, as the pair touched down in Ireland, Aldo took the opportunity to get in digs of his own.

“It’s cool to see you all happy right now, but when I win the fight you’re all going to bow down to me,” said Aldo said through a translator, as transcribed by Marc Raimondi for MMAFighting.com.

“I’m the king of Dublin. When I got here, it was raining, but I brought the sun with me. I’m the king of Dublin. I’m the champion.”

“This is nothing for me. You’re all going to keep crying. I fought in front of 50,000. You only have 2,000 here. I’m still going to be the champion after this fight. This spit bucket you’re talking about, he’s going to use it to clean my belt when I win.”

“He’s going to bring in money for me. After him, it’s just another. My pocket will be full of money.”

“I’ve never had any fear in my entire career. This is normal to me.”

Aldo was asked about McGregor snatching away his belt momentarily.

“That’s the best he can do because next time he’s in front of me, I will beat the s— out of his face,” replied Aldo.

UFC president Dana White was ecstatic at the static between the pair.

“This fight here is the fight I said would be the biggest fight of the year,” said White as transcribed by Chuck Mindenhall for MMAFighting.com. “This fight here is a global event. This fight here is Ireland versus Brazil. It’s for the world title and it’s on the global stage and it’s going to be insane.”

When McGregor was asked by a wee Irish fan how long it was going to take to “Rip his head off,” the challenger replied with complete confidence.

“It will be done in one,” he said, holding up his index finger.

Jose Aldo fights Conor McGregor at UFC 189 on July 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler meets Rory MacDonald in the co-main. There are projections as high as 1,000,000 for the PPV buys, and $7,000,000 for the live gate.
