You probably heard the rumors that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was injured, and wasn’t going to make the fight with interim champ Conor McGregor. During a recent press conference in his native Brazil, Aldo said he suspected that a person or persons in the gym were leaking information without authorization, and so spread the rumors to catch the rat.

“Every little thing we do in here, everyone talks about,” he said to Combate, as transcribed by Lucas Rezende for BE. “I was actually chill about it, but Andre Pederneiras was stressed out. I try not to care about what people say. It’s actually good this happened, everything we do here in the gym, we hide. Sometimes I say I hurt something so guys can go and talk about it. That way we find out who the rat is. I try to remain relaxed and focused. That’s what’s important.”

Jose Aldo fights Conor McGregor on December 12, at UFC 194, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
