Aldo responds to White’s criticism
“The ranking is f@$%ing useless,” said Jose Aldo. “And I don’t care about it or anything people put on. . The best pound-for-pound fighter is Cain Velasquez…”

The UFC has a media expert generated Top 10 Pound for Pound list:
1. Jon Jones
2. Jose Aldo
3. Renan Barao
3. Cain Velasquez
5. Demetrious Johnson
6. Chris Weidman
7. Anderson Silva
8. Anthony Pettis
9. Ronda Rousey
10. Johny Hendricks
Despite a seventeen fight win streak, and being undefeated in the WEC/UFC, Jose Aldo is not the pound for pound king, something UFC President Dana White attributes to his lack of finishing fights:
The thing about Jose Aldo that drives me crazy is the kid has all the talent in the world, White told ESPN.com. He’s explosive, fast. He can do anything but he just lays back and doesn’t let anything go.
When you talk about being the pound-for-pound best in the world, you can’t go five rounds with guys that it looks like you can defeat them in the second round. That’s what Aldo has a habit of doing.
In an interview with Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting, Aldo responds.
“The ranking is f—ing useless,” said Aldo. “And I don’t care about it or anything people put on. The best pound-for-pound fighter is Velasquez because he beats all of them. If they put him against me, he’d beat me. That’s how it works for me. The best is that one that beats everybody. I don’t care about the rankings.”
Also also discussed his last fight, a dominant decision win over Ricardo Lamas at UFC 169.
“I never fought so well like in my last fight,” said Aldo. “I attacked him the whole time. I did my best. We need to know how to handle the criticism. You dedicate and suffer a lot to showcase your technique and ability, things that few people can do, and some people say you’re laying back. It’s tough, but I don’t care about this.”
“I don’t think I have slowed down. I may be more strategic, but offensive as always. I attacked a lot in my last fight. We always try the knockout but it’s hard to get it if the opponent always runs away.
“If you lose, no one will remember you, but if you’re the champion they will always remember you. I want to keep winning, no matter what.”
