UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo recently spoke with Brazilian media giant Globo, and said he is looking forward the money he will make fighting Conor McGregor, even though the thinks the Irishman is not the #1 contender.

“I’m getting a taste for [trash talking],” said Aldo, as transcribed by Fernando Arbex for BE. “We have to be provocative to sell fights, talk more, to know we’ll be more profitable. It’s important. The financial side is great for me, for the UFC, and for him. But, if you talk about rankings, I think he’s undeserving. But, the rankings serve no f—ing purpose, nobody f—ing respects it, so this fight is good for me because of the money.”

Jose Aldo fights Conor McGregor at UFC 198 on July 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Welterweight champion Robbie Lawler fights Rory MacDonald in the co-main event.
