Aldo: McGregor bad for the sport, won’t fight after MayMac
Jose Aldo: “With the money he will get from this fight, he will never fight again. No MMA, no boxing, nothing.”
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor’s biggest rival is currently the greatest boxer of his generation, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Prior to that. it was Nate Diaz. And prior to that, it was inaugural UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo. The two had a long, bitter build up to their fight, which eventually happened at UFC 194, with Notorious winning in 13 seconds.
During a recent interview with Elie Seckbach for Fight Hype, Aldo was bitter still.
McGregor has no respect for the sport, for the person,” said Aldo, via a translator. “That’s it – he’s not good for the sport.
Aldo also was asked to comment on an image that McGregor posted which implied he knocked down sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi, who eventually quit the camp in protest.
“It was a push,” said Aldo.
In a further interview, Aldo was asked if he would like a rematch with McGregor in the boxing ring. Aldo replied that after making $100 million, McGregor won’t be returning to any ring.
