Adriano Moraes has given his pick for one of ONE Fight Night 10‘s early bouts.

Before “Mikinho” walks to the ONE circle for his flyweight world title showdown against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson on May 5, he’ll watch 20-year-old phenom Tye Ruotolo face middleweight MMA king Reinier de Ridder in a submission grappling superfight.

Moraes is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, so he knows the sport of grappling very well. And after spending time with Ruotolo last year, he knows the prodigy’s skill level well enough to make a fair observation.

After considering all things, “Mikinho” expects his one-time training partner to emerge victorious.

Ruotolo, he claims, will have the edge due to his experience under the rule set. Though de Ridder has forced opponents to tap out time and time again in MMA, he hasn’t been able to devote all of his time to the mats – and that could be the difference maker in this contest.

“It will be a big grappling fight. I had the honor of training with Tye Ruotolo when I was in California last year. He is a very tough guy and will make for a great fight,” he said.

“I believe Tye, being a (pure) grappler, his jiu-jitsu will be sharper. I see that he has more advantages in this fight.”

The Ruotolo vs. de Ridder clash is just one of many bouts that Moraes is paying attention to at ONE Fight Night 10, ONE Championship’s historic U.S. debut event.

There are a few other key battles that have caught his attention, including the match between top-ranked flyweight contenders Kairat Akhmetov (29-2) and Reece McLaren (16-8). The winner of that contest could very well be the next ONE flyweight world title challenger.

Also, Moraes’ American Top Team training partner Alyse Anderson will face off against Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex in a high-stakes atomweight showdown.

While he is “excited to see” both matches, one thing is clear to him: “ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III” on Prime Video will be something all fans should watch.

“The card is excellent,” he said. “Only great fights from start to finish.”
