Simpson improved to 7-0 on Jan. 11 with a split-decision victory over Tom Lawlor at UFC Fight Night 20. Simpson and Lawlor shared Fight of the Night honors and a $30,000 bonus. The Arizona Combat Sports standout is 3-0 in the UFC.
Leben (19-6) broke a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision win the same evening against Newark’s Jay Silva. Rather than trading fists in his usual brawling style, Leben instead rode out a lackluster victory, needing to get back into the win column. Silva, the “Newark Nightmare”, then called out Leben on the Ground and Pound for his choice of styles in the fight.
