ONE Championship returns to American primetime television this Friday night with “ONE on Prime Video 4: Abbasov vs. Lee.”

The card is stacked with 10 explosive fights and topped by a pair of world champion vs world champion showdowns, but one bout in particular has “Fight of the Night” written all over it.

In the co-main event, ONE flyweight muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon will defend his title against ONE strawweight muay Thai world champion Joseph Lasiri, who is looking to join the exclusive “champ-champ” club.

Here are three reasons why this world champion vs. world champion battle may very well be the pick of the bunch.

1. Because, well, Rodtang

Rodtang’s fights are always a must-see event for combat sports fans.

The Thai superstar has been virtually unstoppable since signing with the promotion back in 2018, winning all 11 of his muay Thai and kickboxing contests.

“The Iron Man” is never in a boring fight, highlighted by his all-action wars with Danial Williams, Tagir Khalilov and Jonathan Haggerty. The 25-year-old is seemingly immune to taking damage, and his fearless approach has endeared him to the masses.

Rodtang alone is worth the price of admission, and at ONE on Prime Video 4, he has a more-than-willing dance partner.

2. Lasiri does not take a backward step

One element that sets muay Thai in ONE Championship apart is that bouts are contested in four-ounce gloves.

The gloves indigenous to MMA bring a different dimension to muay Thai, already one of the most destructive combat sports on the planet.

Smaller gloves mean that fighters must be on their game to avoid getting hit, as one shot could change the course of the fight. That is complicated by the lack of boxing-style gloves, meaning that punches are harder to defend and the chances are greater that a telling blow will land.

With those gloves laced to the hands of two explosive athletes in Rodtang and Lasiri, fireworks are sure to follow. Both men have shown incredible grit in the ONE circle so far, and they are likely to meet in the middle and put on a show.
