Jeremy Miado (10-4) is the dark horse of ONE Championship’s strawweight mixed martial arts division, and he might have his breakthrough moment at ONE Fight Night 11 on Prime Video.
“The Jaguar” faces undefeated wrestler Mansur Malachiev (10-0) at the star-studded event, which will broadcast live on Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime on Friday, June 9.
A win over the Russian could very well catapult Miado into the divisional rankings, and here are three reasons why he could grab a spot.
1. He is a world-class striker
Owing to his 76-7 combined record in kickboxing and boxing, it’s perhaps unsurprising that many of Miado’s MMA wins have come by knockout.
The 30-year-old’s crisp striking has been too much to handle for most of his opponents, and it has helped him score six finishes inside the ONE circle.
The strawweight division is littered with talented standup practitioners, but it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Miado might just be the best of the lot.

2. He recently finished a top-5 ranked contender
While he remained unranked after his last promotional outing due to an unfortunate weight miss, Miado still proved that he can beat a top-5 opponent on that occasion.
At ONE Fight Night 3 last October, the Marrok Force representative dismantled No. 5-ranked contender Danial Williams, landing shots at will while displaying his prowess for all the world to see. He would ultimately finish the Aussie just 31 seconds into the third and final round.
The scintillating performance showed that a ranked fighter doesn’t intimidate “The Jaguar,” so fans can expect the same once he cracks the strawweight top five.
3. He’s won his last four by knockout
Miado has one of the more impressive winning streaks in his division.
His victory over Williams was his fourth in a row. And even more impressively, all those victories have come by knockout.
Miado would classify each of those as significant, but he’d surely put his showstopping flying knee knockout over China’s Miao Li Tao in November 2019 right at the top of the pile.
With that momentum on his side, this Filipino phenom may well be the next superstar to come out of ONE’s strawweight ranks.
