Fighters used to weigh-in in the early evening the day before the fight. Unfortunately, the body does not always rehydrate within 24 hours, leaving the brain more susceptible to injury. Many fighters took IVs in an attempt to rehydrate sufficiently. However, when the UFC selected the US Anti-Doping Agency as their independent drug testing body, the use of IVs was prohibited, as it can mask the use of PEDs. In response, the UFC has instituted a new, safer procedure, wherein fighters are given a two-hour window in which to weigh in, on the morning of the day before the fight.

The UFC 209 ceremonial weigh-ins take place at 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where the fight will take place the next day.
