‘ONE Championship 42: Ascent to Power’ at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore on 6 May will crown the leagues’ inaugural female champion. The new women’s atomweight (105) belt will be on the line when Angela ‘Unstoppable’ Lee fights Mei Yamaguchi. Lee is 5-0 with all fights coming via submission. Yamaguchi is a DEEP Jewels champion on a three-fight win streak.

I might offend a lot of men in Asia with this statement, but anyone who knows me well knows that I am a feminist like Justin Trudeau is. Men and women are equal in every way. Full stop. Period. It saddens me that the vast majority of Asian men believe otherwise. I believe firmly that a woman can choose what she wants to do with her life, even if it doesn’t fit society’s definition of what a woman should or should not be. Angela Lee and Mei Yamaguchi are both great examples of female superheroes who will help to lead the empowerment of women across Asia.
