In April of last year amateur MMA fighter Kearn Nedd, 28, was hailed as a hero after he was gunned down in Toronto. The good samaritan was participating in a charity poker event when two armed and masked bandits burst in. Nedd rushed to help the tournament organizer and was fatally shot in the ensuing struggle.

Now police report that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the murder.

Last year police made a major seizure of guns and drugs.

Samir Abdelgadir, of Mississauga, was arrested and charged with a slew of gun and drug-related offences.

Last week local police revealed one of those guns was the weapon that killed Nedd and they charged Abdelgadir with accessory after the fact to murder.

We’ve now made a second arrest, Homicide Insp. George Koekkoek said Monday.

The second accused is 15 years old, but at the time of Nedd’s slaying he was only 14, Koekkoek said.

The teen can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Koekkoek said the teen was already in custody on another matter when he was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

It’s only a matter of time until further arrests are made in the case, the officer said.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
