100 DWTNCS fighters have perfect early weigh-ins record

While the UFC may have suffered from a handful of glaring failures, Dana White’s own Tuesday Night Contender Series just had it’s 100th weigh-ins, with zero failures.

UFC president Dana White has said he wants a return to late weigh-ins because too many fighters are missing weight. However, while the UFC may have suffered from a handful of glaring failures, Dana White’s own Tuesday Night Contender Series just had it’s 100th weigh-ins, with zero failures. One fighter did need an extra hour.

And DWTNCS uses early weigh-ins.

MMAjunkie‘s Ben Fowlkes offered possible reasons why.

1. Fewer last-minute replacements.
2. No one wants to come in heavy for a UFC tryout.
3. At a lower level of competition, maybe fighters are just cutting less weight.
4. Sample size.

Granted 1,000 fighters a year make weight in the UFC, and this is just 100. However, this is Dana White’s own event, and the fact early weigh-ins have worked perfectly should count for something in the league boss’s analysis.
