In this New Year’s Eve bout, Muay Thai legend Saenchai battles Sophorn and demonstrates a true mastery of his striking art.

The fight starts out with both fighter throwing legs kick at each other and circling around the right. As one is a southpaw and the other orthodox, they do a lot of grabbing at each other’s lead hand.

Saenchai seems to be the aggressor, moving forward more often and trying to corner his opponent. Sophorn throws some solid body kicks, but they are mostly blocked. Saenchai starts to open up a little early in the round, throwing a couple head kicks that are blocked, but still with a solid impact. He tries a hard front snap kick that barely misses.

The two continue to trade hard strikes with Saenchai still pushing the action. The two engage in a rapid trade of punches and then Saenchai backs off and leaps forward with a strong left hand that floors his opponent to the ground. He tries to follow up with a rear knee, but his opponent has already hit the mat.

The referee stops the bout and gives Sophorn an opportunity to get up, but he stays down and Saenchai is declared the winner.
