Players in other sports routinely take the bench and skip games with “injuries” like mild hamstring strains, bruised thighs, and slight knee strains. Pfft.

But in MMA and many other combat sports, fighters keep on keeping on regardless of what happens to them. Check out this Muay Thai fighter.

He gets his leg destroyed right away in this fight, but he keeps trying to continue, even with his leg literally about to snap in half.

You have a baseball bat in your leg. It’s called your shin bone. It’s super-tough and durable, but just like the wooden bats of baseball; the shin bone will crack, snap and break with enough blunt force. You’d never see a baseball player continue to hit with a broken bat, but this fighter has so much pride and courage that he keeps trying to fight, even after his leg is snapped after one brutally hard kick.

It’s warriors like this that make us love MMA, Muay Thai and all the other combat sports. These guys lay it on the line every time, and continue to fight even after suffering horrific injuries.

They entertain us, but they also serve as an inspiration. So put down those chips and Mountain Dew and go sign up for some MMA or Muay Thai classes. You’ll be glad you did. Unless you take one of those leg-breaking kicks. But if you do, make sure that you send us the video, mmkay? Thanks.

Muay Thai is recognized as a very effective striking base within MMA, and is very widely practiced among mixed martial artists.
