Wanderlei Silva is the former longtime Pride middleweight champion and a true legend in the sport of MMA. Known for his fan pleasing ‘berzerker style’ Muay Thai attack that was honed training under the legendary Chute Boxe team in his native Brazil who were well-known for their brutal training practices.
So if there’s anybody you don’t want to piss off in sparring session, it’s Wanderlei Silva like we see here in the video below.
What at first looks to be a nice, light sparring session at what looks to be a demonstration or seminar, quickly goes awry when the young kid tries to show off and throws a spinning back kick at the legend.
The spinning back kick is a powerful technique from taekwondo and though it didn’t really land all that hard here, it is a flashy technique and shows you where the kid’s mentality is at.
Wanderlei instantly responds with a brutal two punch combination that he was famous for in the Pride days. You can hear the shots land pretty hard too so it’s almost surprising how the young kid didn’t go down after.
The MMA legend proceeds to then maul this kid on the ground with some hammer fists to teach him a lesson. He could have done MUCH worse though.
Eventually he shows mercy and lets the kid up where the two shake hands and embrace, showing Wanderlei’s class and the spirit of martial arts. I bet the kid won’t be trying that again anytime soon though.
