Unbeaten finisher Dzhabir Dzhabrailov meets surging Swiss welterweight Maurice Abevi at ONE Fight Night 50 in Bangkok

Dzhabrailov arrives with a record built entirely on finishes. The Turkish welterweight, who trains at Lions MMA Club in Phuket, is 7-0 as a professional and 4-0 in ONE, and he has stopped every opponent he has faced. He combines a wrestling base with heavy hands, and his most recent outing showed something beyond power: at ONE Fight Night 42 in April, he was knocked down by Chase Mann, recovered, and finished him in the first round anyway.

Abevi has been one of ONE’s steadier risers at 170 pounds. The 27-year-old Swiss fighter, who trains at Phuket Grappling Academy and Tiger Muay Thai, lost a decision to Halil Amir in his promotional debut and has won three straight since, including finishes of Samat Mamedov and Blake Cooper. He is 9-1 overall, with eight of those wins coming inside the distance, and his game is built on a dangerous grappling base with striking that has improved with every outing.

The matchup is straightforward on paper and dangerous in practice. Two fighters who rarely need judges, both comfortable wrestling, both capable of ending a fight in an instant. For Dzhabrailov, Abevi is the most experienced and well-rounded opponent of his career, a test of whether a perfect finishing record holds up against someone who has already been through adversity inside the promotion and responded with three wins. For Abevi, beating an unbeaten finisher would be the clearest statement yet that he belongs near the top of the division. ONE has not billed the bout as a title eliminator, and neither fighter has been promised a title shot with a win.

The fight joins a card with a marquee addition. In the same announcement, ONE confirmed that Kade Ruotolo, the promotion’s lightweight submission grappling world champion and an unbeaten MMA prospect, will face former ONE lightweight MMA champion Ok Rae Yoon, the biggest test yet of the grappling star’s MMA run. More bouts are expected to be added to ONE Fight Night 50 in the coming weeks.
