The original main event between Sean Brady and Gabriel Bonfim fell apart nine days out. Brady withdrew after a serious infection and recurring fluid buildup in his knee, an issue that put him in hospital after a training day that, by his account, started normally and ended with him unable to walk. Rather than find a short-notice replacement for Bonfim, the UFC moved a new fight to the top of the card, and Bonfim, 20-1 and riding a five-fight streak that includes a decision win over former champion Belal Muhammad in June, will wait for his next booking. Brady has said he wants the matchup preserved.
That new main event is Waldo Cortes-Acosta against Johnny Walker over five rounds. Walker made his heavyweight debut only last month at UFC 332, knocking out Mick Parkin in the first round, and his plan was to build gradually in the division. When UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard offered him a main event against a ranked opponent, he accepted immediately. Cortes-Acosta, 17-4, is a top-10 heavyweight who opened 2026 by stopping Derrick Lewis in the second round at UFC 324 in January, and he enters as a clear favourite, at -233 with DraftKings, with Walker at +190. The matchup is simple to frame: Cortes-Acosta’s size and heavyweight experience against Walker’s unpredictability and finishing power, with a short-notice camp and five rounds as the biggest questions for the Brazilian.
The co-main event is a strawweight fight between two former title challengers. Tatiana Suarez, the decorated wrestler, faces Virna Jandiroba, whose most dangerous weapons come from her back. That dynamic defines the fight: Suarez will look to control where it happens and keep Jandiroba from working her guard, while Jandiroba will look to make any time on the mat costly. Suarez is the favourite at -204 with DraftKings, with Jandiroba at +170, and the winner should stay firmly in the conversation for another title opportunity in Mackenzie Dern’s division.
The six-fight main card also includes Mantas Kondratavicius against Andre Petroski, with Kondratavicius among the card’s strongest favourites, along with appearances from Davey Grant, Elijah Smith and Wellington Turman. The prelims feature, among others, Road to UFC graduate Keiichiro Nakamura and Marcos Degli in his proper UFC debut.
UFC Vegas 124 takes place Saturday, November 7, at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, with prelims at 5 p.m. ET and the main card at 8 p.m. ET, all streaming on Paramount+. A card that lost its headliner nine days out now has a heavyweight main event with genuine stakes, and Walker has a chance to turn a rushed plan into the biggest win of his new chapter.
