UAE Warriors Africa will begin showcasing talent from the second most populated continent on the planet in a major way in February.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, the Abu Dhabi-based MMA organization announced the debut of a new series of events, in the mold of their 2021 UAE Warriors Arabia series, dubbed UAE Warriors Africa

The UAE Warriors Arabia series featured five events throughout last year with an emphasis on promoting rising MMA talent from Arabian nations. The promotion’s new series will look to do the same by showcasing fighters from a fast-growing pool of competitors from the African continent.

UAE Warriors Africa series begins in February

The inaugural UAE Warriors Africa event will take place on Feb. 18 inside the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi. The card will present athletes from over fifteen African nations. Italian-based Tunisian fighter Wisem Hammami (6-0) will face Shido Soto (5-0) of Angola in the main event of the card, officially dubbed UAE Warriors 25: Africa.

The following night, UAE Warriors 26: Arabia will take place in the same arena and features a bantamweight headliner pitting former UAE Warriors champion Xavier Alaoui (12-4) against Lebanon native and M-1 Global veteran Fabricio Sarraff (29-9).

Africa’s status in MMA has grown over the last few years as natives of Africa have ascended to elite levels in the industry. UFC champions Francis Ngannou, Kamaru Usman, and Israel Adesanya were all born on the continent, as well as ONE Championship heavyweight star Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane.
