In this classic Bellator MMA fight, Toby Imada fought current UFC standout Jorge Masvidal at Bellator 5 in Dayton, OH and won by one of the rarest submissions ever. The battle back an forth in action-packed fight for the first two rounds. It was Masvidal’s second fight in Bellator MMA as well as Imada’s. They had both picked up impressive victories in Bellator’s inaugural show and were matched together for the fifth show.

In the third round, Masvidal shot in for a takedown and Imada sprawled over him. As Masvidal came to his fight, Imada feel over him but locked the arm and head of his opponent in a reverse triangle choke. Masvidal stood to his feet, but unable to escape was eventually choked unconscious, giving Imada the win by technical submission.

Timoteo Tobias “Toby” Imada (born July 16, 1978), is an American mixed martial artist of Japanese and Mexican descent. He fights for Bellator Fighting Championships in their lightweight division. He competed in their first and second season tournaments, making it to the finals both times.

Imada won 2009 Submission of the Year with an inverted triangle choke.
