UFC color commentator Joe Rogan called it the ugliest, nastiest guillotine ever. UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten called it the tightest guillotine he had ever seen. So let’s call it the ugliest, nastiest, tightest, and best guillotine of all time.

It was the IFL: 2007 Semifinals, on August 2, 2007, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.

AMA Fight Club’s Dan Miller was in red, and represented Renzo Gracie’s Pitbulls. Dave “The Rockstar” Phillips was in blue, and represented the Tokyo Sabres. It was Miller’s debut for the Pitbulls; he was a substitute for an injured Fabio Leopaldo.

Phillips applied an armbar, but Miller slammed his way out of it. Miller then ground n pounded from top side control and as he circled towards the head, Phillips went for a single, and into a guillotine. Miller stood Phillips up and pressed him against the ropes, with his neck twisted at a inhuman angle.

Phillips went out before he had a chance to tap. Miller won the fight, a submission of the night award, and a place in the history books.

Miller would go on the next year to beat Ryan McGivern for the IFL middleweight title. The league would fold not long after, so Miller will always be the champ.

Dan is the older brother of UFC lightweight Jim Miller. Both fight in the UFC.

They are savages (in a good way). Together they run Miller Brothers MMA, in Sparta, NJ. Yes, that really is the name of the township.
