The highlight reel finishes that makes us fans gasp and scream out “HOLY $#!&, HOLY F$%ING $#!^” come with a price. That was never so clear as this weekend at Bellator 159 in London. Sport karate based human highlight reel Michael ‘Venom’ Page landed an extraordinary flying knee KO.

Cyborg suffered a fractured skull.

The injury was written on his gallant face.

The sport rallied behind the fighter. Santos’ ex-wife Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino immediately set up a Go Fund Me account that raised over $20,000 in less than an a day, and is climbing. Bellator said they would cover all medical expenses, and gave Santos’s his show plus his win money, to help cover expenses during his recovery.

The fighter is waiting for his condition to stabilize so he can return to the USA for surgery. He says he wants to be fighting again in six months. Time will tell.

We all wish Cyborg a full and fast recovery, even as we fear that that may not be possible. And the sound of what happened, it’s haunting …
