Early in 2014, then UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey expressed her admiration for the greatest heavyweight in MMA history, Fedor Emelianenko.

Do I want to have 57 of his babies? asked Rousey rhetorically. It’s true. I think he’s married, though, so I’m not allowed.

On a far more serious note, during her first media appearance following her loss to Holly Holm on 15 November 2015 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, Rousey referenced the possibility of pregnancy as psychological protection against suicidal thoughts.

“I was in the medical room and I was down in the corner, said Rousey to Ellen DeGeneres. I was sitting in the corner like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this?’ And I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and that exact second, I’m [thinking] ‘I’m nothing … what do I do anymore and no one gives a s*** about me anymore without this.’

“I looked up and I saw my man [UFC fighter Travis Browne] was standing up there and I looked up at him and I was like, I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive. I don’t know if I’d have made it without him.

Rousey, the best known fighter in the sport, has not fought since, and has no fight scheduled. There were rumors online that ‘Rowdy’ might in fact be pregnant.

The rumors reached Cris Cyborg Justino, who responded with dignity and kindness.

However, UFC president Dana White reached out to Rousey herself, according to TMZ Sports.

We spoke with White … who tells us he talked with Ronda on the phone after the Cyborg tweet and she assured him it just ain’t true.

Still, Rousey has no firm plans to return. White has previously reported that Rousey has prior movie commitments, and needs time to recover from minor surgery, and may not return until 2017.
