Pawel Popek Rak, also known by the more spectacular monikers Popek Monster and The King of Albania, is a Polish MMA fighter and rapper who currently resides in London, England. Although Rak only has three professional fights (with a record of two wins and one loss) and is yet to score an international hit as a rapper (although his 2013 release Monster was certified gold in Slovakia, Czech Republic and his birthplace of Poland), one thing is certain: Popek Rak is a special level of crazy that most people never even come close to reaching.
The Polish heavyweight first made waves in Great Britain’s Cage Rage promotion, winning his first two fights by KO/TKO stoppage within two rounds. Less than six months after his first professional MMA match, The King of Albania self-financed and self-released his first solo record, titled Wyjęty spod prawa, which when loosely translated to English, means Outlaw.
Where would you say is a fitting place on the human body for an outlaw to be tattooed?
If you ask Popek Monster, the answer is clear. Directly on the eyeball, one of the most delicate and sensitive parts of the human body.
The answer to the question why the hell would you want to do that to yourself is less clear. In the video below, before having his eyeball tattooed Rak explains his reasoning for indulging in such a dangerous form of body modification.
When I’m gonna do the eye tattoo, which is f—ing crazy, I’m gonna be complete. I’m scared and excited as well, but yeah… f— it. He later states, I can’t understand my decision, and for the first time in my life, I can’t understand myself. So f— this, I don’t know. I’m a freak. I must be a freak.
So, if you dare, sit back and watch the terrifying procedure unfold.
