Perry vs. Danis MMA fight set for August 29 as Dual Arena 1 launches new hybrid promotion

Perry arrives with fresh momentum. On May 16, he stopped Nate Diaz by TKO in the co-main event of MVP MMA 1, the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano Netflix card at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. It was a bloody, one-sided finish that handed Diaz the third TKO loss of his career and reset Perry’s stock as a bare-knuckle-adjacent draw who can still handle himself with four-ounce gloves on.

He has fought under BKFC as the promotion’s King of Violence champion since 2023, and he has been the marquee draw the discipline has built around. The Danis fight is his second consecutive MMA appearance since parting ways with the UFC in 2021 after losses to Daniel Rodriguez and Tim Means.

Perry’s Orlando walk lands on the same night as BKFC 92 at Fenway Park in Boston, where Lorenzo Hunt, who called Perry out from the ring at BKFC 91 in Naples two weekends ago, will be on the card. Perry is not defending the King of Violence belt against Hunt on August 29. He is fighting Danis instead. That is a matchmaking priority Perry has publicly chosen, and it puts the Hunt fight on ice until at least the fall.

Danis’s résumé is thinner and more chaotic. He is a Marcelo Garcia black belt with a competitive grappling career that included ADCC 2017 before he moved to MMA in Bellator. Perry has publicly told Ariel Helwani he intends to stuff the takedowns and force Danis to work off the guard, which is the pre-fight version of the game plan the tape suggests.

The one variable no one in the industry is treating as settled is whether Danis actually walks to the ring on August 29. Although likely insignificant, a March 29 boxing match against KSI collapsed when KSI withdrew, though earlier iterations had Danis pulling out first. His scheduled MMA return against Tony Ferguson at GFL 2 fell apart when the card was cancelled entirely. Multiple prior Perry-Danis bookings have been discussed and abandoned across BKFC, Misfits, and other channels since 2023. Landing this fight as an MMA bout, on a first-time promoter’s debut card, is either the most obvious version of the pairing or the most improbable, depending on how much weight you put on the previous near-misses.

Fan reaction to the Friday announcement has been mixed, with many observers publicly asking whether the fight makes it to fight night. That question is not idle. It is a genuine variable in how Dual Arena 1 sells tickets, prices its distribution deal, and structures its promotional cycle.

Orlando gives the event a neutral, tourism-heavy footprint. The Kia Center, home to the Orlando Magic, seats north of 18,000 in combat-sports configurations. Ticket on-sale details have not yet been made public. Neither has the streaming or distribution partner. Toole has been in the matchmaking business long enough to command the operational side of a debut event without turning to a bigger platform first, but the commercial infrastructure around the card is the thing to watch across the next several weeks.
