Of all the people to take a low kick from, old school great Pedro ‘The Rock’ Rizzo is a terrible choice. Hands down the best leg kicks in MMA. Just ask Randy Couture who has permanent ‘dents’ in his leg from Pedro Rizzo.

In this youtube video, Pedro first gives him a soft taste without the pad and you can tell even that causes the guy some pain. It makes you really appreciate his technique. It’s all shin he’s connecting with. He knows just where to dig it in and place his weight.

Pedro then allows the guy to use the pad and the kick Pedro lands is so powerful it flips the guy around like a ragdoll. It doesn’t even look to be with his full power. He’s being nice.

The muay thai low kick, while simple looking, is one of the more devastating weapons in MMA. Eating leg kicks from a good kicker like Pedro zaps your will to fight and has detrimental effects on your entire game. It affects your movement and your ability to strike and go for takedowns as you can’t put the same kind of weight on it.
