In this video from Russian amateur MMA promotion ‘Arrows Street Fight,’ we see what happens when a clear novice takes on a couple of MMA fighters with varying levels of ability.
While the novice does have some natural ability and perhaps even some sort of background in wrestling, he is very much lacking in the skill and technique department particularly when it comes to striking and striking defense.
Nevertheless, his rudimentary striking along with some natural ability is able to keep the job done rather quickly and in rather brutal fashion against his first MMA fighter opponent (who doesn’t look all that far removed from being a novice himself).

He has much more trouble with his second opponent, however, who seems much more polished and confident in his abilities.
It is in the second fight where the novice goes into wrestling mode, making it seem like he has a background in that style.
He is able to take down the MMA fighter a couple of times but doesn’t do much else. For a well-rounded MMA fighter, being taken down isn’t that big of a deal as he attacks with a guillotine but just uses it to get back to his feet where he has a huge advantage.
The difference in striking ability on the feet is very dramatic in the second bout, as the novice nearly runs straight into a head kick.
Shortly thereafter, the novice goes in for another takedown but shows his inexperience in leaving himself open and gets pounded out by his much more skilled opponent.
