Bantamweight mixed martial artist Andre The Asian Sensation Soukhamthath fights out of the Blackzilians camp and has been competing professionally since September 2011. On March 11 of this year, The Asian Sensation took on Team Ronin MMA fighter Kody The Rookie Nordby for the bantamweight title at Classic Entertainment & Sports 33 at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
Throughout the match, The Asian Sensation was able to successfully use his defensive wrestling skills to keep it on the feet for most of the fight, while Nordby worked diligently to bring Soukhamthath to the mat, where he could secure top control and work his ground and pound.
The five round fight between Soukhamthath and Nordby saw each man have their moments, with Soukhamthath likely leading on the cards going into the fifth round. Kody Nordby battled through a difficult and taxing fourth round that left him visibly fatigued as the men entered the final frame of their title scrap.
About a minute and a half into the fifth and final round, Soukhamthath appeared to be waiting on Nordby to make another attempt at a takedown, and likely had the knee loaded up in the chamber and ready to go. As Nordby lowers his head and throws a wide, looping left hook, The Asian Sensation is able to perfectly time a brutal right knee that lands squarely on Nordby’s jaw, sending him crashing to the mat in a daze. Referee Kevin McDonald steps in, declaring Soukhamthath winner by KO at 1:35 of the final frame.
