MMA star Rory MacDonald showed Canadian TV host Lisa Redl no mercy when she stopped by at his gym to learn how to fight.
This was back in 2010 when MacDonald was the youngest fighter in the UFC, as well as being one of their most highly regarded up-and-coming prospects, holding a perfect 10-0 MMA record at the time.
Along with his fighting prowess, MacDonald is also known for his rather unique, introverted personality, with his apparent lack of emotion and monotone, deadpan delivery quickly leading to him being jokingly branded, ‘The Canadian Psycho’ by MMA fans.
As for Redl, she’s on the bright, bubbly and fun-loving end of the personality spectrum, but quickly found out that didn’t mean MacDonald was going to take it any easier on her!

After a brief warm-up and lesson on the heavy-bag, it was time for Redl to put on a body shield and feel what it’s like to get punched.
So, be careful, Redl told MacDonald. I’m fragile. I will be hard on you, but you can’t be hard on me.
I understand this, MacDonald confirmed, then proceeded to drop her with a punch to the liver.
MacDonald didn’t hold back when they finally got into the cage to simulate a real fight either.
Usually in situations like this the fighter will offer encouragement and let the host claim a few small victories.
Instead, MacDonald hit her with a front kick, threw her to the canvas several times, locked in a couple of rear-naked chokes and hoisted her onto his shoulder and dumped her on the mat when she attempted to escape by climbing over the cage!

It was all in good fun of course (or at least we think so anyway!) and In the years since, MacDonald has developed into one of the best welterweight fighters on the planet with an 18-4 record, defeating the likes of Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, BJ Penn and Demian Maia along the way.
He also featured in a ‘Fight of The Year’ battle with Robbie Lawler for the UFC’s welterweight title in 2015, but lost by TKO, and has since become a major signing for Bellator, where he’ll make his debut later this year.
