It’s widely accepted that a boxer’s Achilles heel in the cage would be their complete lack of a ground game, but what would happen if two of them tried to outwrestle an MMA fighter at the same time?
Bellator star Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal decided to find out back in 2013 when he challenged two boxers at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas to attempt to out grapple him.
That would be a tough task even for another highly trained MMA fighter as the 6′, 205lb Lawal is not just a former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, Bellator 205lb tournament winner and Rizin heavyweight Grand-Prix champion in mixed martial arts, but prior to that, he was also a decorated NCAA amateur wrestler too.
In fact, at one stage Lawal was the No.1 ranked wrestler in the U.S. at 84kgs and was widely tipped to win a spot on the Olympic team back in 2008, but after narrowly missing out he opted to pursue an MMA career instead.

The two boxers going up against him in the ring were Zachary Cooper, a super welterweight, who at the time had just turned pro and was 2-0, and welterweight Kevin Johnson, a talented amateur prospect at welterweight.
To begin the challenge, ‘King Mo’ laid on his back and the two boxers then attempted to outwrestle him, but that would prove to be easier said than done.
At one stage they did appear to have the MMA star in trouble as one went for a rear-naked choke while the other tried to help, then tried for an armbar, but they didn’t have the technical knowledge to correctly apply the submission moves.
Before long, ‘King Mo’ was mocking them by just propping himself up on one elbow with his hand resting on his head as they struggled in vain to shift him.

Eventually, Lawal was able to get on top and methodically transitioned to an arm triangle choke that forced Johnson to tap out. Later he gave him another chance and submitted him again with the same move.

Cooper didn’t get away either, with Lawal later taking him on again 1-on-1 and effortlessly tapping him out twice.
