WatchMojo.com recently put together a video of the Top 10 Horrific Sports Injuries. it does not includes injuries that are a result of fouls (think Mike Tyson biting off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear). And of course it does not include deaths.

Unfortunately, MMA made the list more than once.

Honorable Mentions:
Leslie Smith • MMA • Exploded ear
Allan Ray • Basketball • Eyelid forced behind eyeball
Marcus Lattimore • American Football • Dislocated knee and torn ligaments
Shaun Livingston • Basketball • Torn everything

#10. Trent McLeary • Hockey • Fractured larynx
#9. Anderson Silva • MMA • Broken fibula

The MMA stories have a relatively happy ending. Anderson Silva came back and won his return fight, with Nick Diaz. Then he ran into further problems, but that’s another story.

Smith’s ear is back to near normal, although she reports that her days as an ear model are at an end.

People oftentimes ask us “why mojo?” or “what does WatchMojo mean?”

Mojo has a double connotation:
•Mojo connotes charisma, ambition, charm, luck and an aura that captures the essense of being successful in life.
•Mojo stands for mobile journalism, which in of itself has two meanings, as well. Like all successful companies that were built online, they’re lean, agile and quick; and they ensure that their content is available to audiences wherever they are: online, in out-of-home, over-the-top connected devices, mobile and tablets.

Like all company missions, how they went about executing on their vision has evolved as the company and industry has changed.

From 2006-2009 they mainly helped viewers become more successful through advice and tips on Lifestyle topics including fashion, health, wellbeing, career, relationships, etc.

Then from 2009-onwards, they added a new layer, which profiled newsworthy people and things throughout history in a pop culture context, thus Knowledge and Entertainment.

Today they cover the People, Places and Trends that viewers are passionate about, including of course combat sports, with an emphasis on MMA.
