Oh boy, can the sport of mixed martial arts be thrilling.
It has become kind of a cliché, but to say you never know what is going to happen when two fighters get locked in a cage remains true. So true.
You’ve probably seen rare stuff happening in a MMA fight…
Crazy KOs. Flying Submissions. Freak injuries. WTF moments.

I’m going to go a limb here though and assume you’ve never seen what follows…
MMA fighters Anthony Lapsley and Aaron Wetherspoon were set to meet at the KOTC: Opposing Force event held on May 15, 2008 in Highland, California, USA.
As soon as the bell announcing the start of the second round rang, both men wasted no time and swarmed at each other, wildly swinging for the fences.
Lapsley connected with a high kick to the jaw, Wetherspoon returned the favor with a right hook over the top. The two reset, and Lapsley connects with a big right hook to the jaw… which stops Lapsley’s momentum who, falling into unconsciousness, unintentionally clash heads with Wetherspoon!
Both fighters fall to the ground struggling to regain consciousness as referee Herb Dean is standing there, baffled with a ‘WTF ?!’ look on his face.
The commentators go crazy, wondering if this is the first-ever double KO in an MMA fight. It might not be, but you can betcha such feat is VERY rare!

The fight eventually ended up being ruled a No Contest, since it is an unintentional headbutt who sent Lapsley to the ground.
This is why we love MMA. You never know what to expect, and more often than not you’re rewarded with a surreal, delightful WTF moment!
