Kung fu, or better known as Chinese martial arts, is pretty much an umbrella term for all martial arts originating from China. Though there are very many different styles of Chinese martial arts they do often share some similarities such as wide circular movements (compared to linear like Japanese arts) as well as the use of chi energy. Many styles of Chinese martial arts also tend to base their techniques off of animals such as Tiger claw, crane style, etc.
In this video from Russian amateur MMA league ‘Arrows Street Fight,’ we see an alleged kung fu ‘master’ try his hand at MMA competition. Now most practitioners of Chinese martial arts scoff at the idea of competition and sport based martial arts, saying that the rules and regulations take away from the pure realism of combat. The master in this video obviously did not agree with that kind of philosophy.

Now compared to most kung fu guys who fight in MMA, this guy doesn’t do all that bad initially. I wouldn’t say he does well either but he does land a couple nice body kicks on his opponent which is more than most kung fu guys ever land in MMA type bouts.
Eventually his luck runs out though as he gets hit with some big shots towards the ends of the video that drop him. On the ground, he really doesn’t know how to defend himself and eats some more big shots before they finally call it.
