Anderson Silva is widely regarded as the best fighter in UFC history, and has the numbers to back that up.

Most consecutive wins in UFC bouts
1. Anderson Silva 16
2. Georges St. Pierre 12
2. Jon Jones 12

Most consecutive UFC title defenses
1. Anderson Silva 10
2. Georges St. Pierre 9
3. Jon Jones 8

UFC great Jon Jones is among the long list of those who rate Anderson Silva as not just the greatest in UFC history, but as the greatest in mixed martial arts history.

“I’ve been looking up to (Anderson Silva) since I was 18, looking at all his fights. I really want to model my career after him. Anderson has won so many world titles and you can’t discredit what he can do.”

“I will give Anderson and Georges [St-Pierre] being above me.”

Jones also holds Fedor Emelianenko in the highest light.

He was asked recently by UFC.com Brazil if Anderson Silva, Fedor Emelianenko and Georges St. Pierre were still the ones he consider to be the greatest of all times?

“Absolutely,” replied Jones. “And in that order.”

Jones’ remarks were echoed by George St-Pierre himself.

You always recognize a great champion by how they come back from a loss,” said GSP. “I know that Anderson has come back from a loss before, from adversity in his fight, and he’s the greatest of all time, for sure.

Even Chris Weidman said Silva is the G.O.A.T., after he beat him, twice.

“If you put yourself in his shoes, he was known as the greatest of all time,” said Weidman. “I still think he should be known as the greatest of all-time.”

In a demonstration of what a humble martial artist he is, one person who emphatically says he is not the G.O.A.T. is Silva himself.
