Conor McGregor is the biggest name in MMA today as well as being one of the most exciting fighters to watch. McGregor fights always deliver excitement and fireworks no matter who he is fighting.
Conor is predominantly known as a striker, preferring to use his boxing skills to land that big left punch of his. McGregor is also becoming well known for his kicking ability as well. Though he mainly uses it to gauge distance and keep his opponents guessing. If one of those big spinning kicks connect however it is game over for his opponent.
This YouTube video with Shane from popular martial arts YouTube channel ‘fightTIPS’ breaks down McGregor’s famous ‘tornado kick’ and shows you how to do it as well. The tornado kick is actually from taekwondo and it utilized as well by other fighters like Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.

It’s important to note however that this kick requires some athleticism and dexterity to pull off. Also anytime you are doing a spinning motion it is easy to pull a muscle so make sure you are properly warmed up and stretched out before attempting to practice this move.
In the video, Shane also demonstrates the proper way to set this kick up which is an important part of every martial arts maneuver. He begins by showing a basic jab, cross combination and on the cross you are stepping through. Then you spin and lift the opposite leg to the one you are kicking with to build momentum to deliver the big kick.
