King Mo (Muhammed Lawal) is one of the most celebrated wrestlers in mixed martial arts and has been a dominate force in Bellator’s light heavyweight division.

Lawal started his professional mixed martial arts career in 2008 in Japan for the Sengoku organization with three straight wins by technical knockout. Lawal was an accomplished collegiate wrester and used those skills well in the cage.

In 2009 Lawal was signed by the Strikeforce organization where he debuted with a huge knockout of Mike Whitehead. He then fought for the Strikeforce title, which he won by decision over current UFC fighter Gegard Mousasi.

In his first title defense, Lawal would suffer the first loss of his career, a technical knockout at the ends of Rafael ‘Feijao’. Lawal would then fight twice more in Strikeforce before signing with Bellator MMA when Strikeforce was purchased by Zuffa, parent company of the UFC.

From 2013 to 2015, Lawal would fight ten times for the Bellator organization amassing a 7-3 record. He also fought for the Bellator light heavyweight title, but lost by decision to Emanuel Newton, the man who had also handing him his first loss for the organization nine months earlier.

Most recently, Lawal represented Bellator MMA in the Rizin Fighting Federation heavyweight tournament which took place in Japan on December 29th and 31st. It was an eight man tournament, which Lawal won. Lawal fought and defeated Brett McDermott in the quarter final matchup by knockout on December 29th. Two days later he fought twice in the same night first defeating Teodoras Aukstuolis by decision in the semi-finals and then knocking out Jiri Prochazka in the finals to capture the tournament title.

On top of being an accomplished professional mixed martial arts, Lawal also competed in professional wrestling from 2012-2015 with the TNA (Total Nonstop Action wrestling) organization.
