After stepping away from the mixed martial arts cage in 2009, MMA superstar Gina Carano was slowly making her way up the ranks of Hollywood.

In 2011 she landed a leading role in the movie Haywire, directed by Steven Soderbergh and alongside the likes of Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Michael Fassbender and Ewan Mcgregor.

Carano plays the role of Mallory Kane, an operative who’s involved in sensitive covert “black operations but then finds she has been targeted for an assassination, so she must unravel the conspiracy against her to stay alive.

Performing all of her own stunts in the film, she shares a very memorable scene with Michael Fassbender in a hotel room which got very, very physical for the two.

The Fassbender fight is definitely special, it took two days and I don’t think he had any qualms about being physical with me after he met me. He was like, ’You know what? She’s somebody I can throw around and not hurt.’ speaking to MTV news.

The fight scene choreography definitely did not disappoint, putting Gina’s skills to test showcasing her Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu skills.

It was just a beautiful fight scene. There were so many funny stories because he is a hilarious human being, Carano reminisced. We had a couple different stories that involved a vase getting smashed in his face. I think the bed scene where I choke him out with the triangle choke and then roll over, and then nobody really expects me to shoot him like that. I think that’s been a very powerful scene.

Fassbender offered insight to his trepidation when filming with the Carano. The thing is, I’m not going to hurt Gina, she’s going to hurt me, if it’s going to be anyone that’s going to go down,
