The vast majority of attention on a typical UFC card is on the main event and co-main. However, the league has explicitly made an effort to not follow the boxing model, in which the main event is everything. The UFC attempts to put 12 or 13 good fights on every card. Sometimes one or even two of the lowly UFC Fight Pass prelims win a $50,000 performance bonus.
The top of the prelim card is one of the most important spots in the organization. The fight has to be so good, so exciting, the someone watching on free television will feel inspired to pay $59.99 to watch five more fights.
Cody Garbrandt and Takeya Mizugaki delivered, with ‘No Love’ winning via KO in the very first round.
Was the fight good enough to convince you to buy the PPV?
