David Cash, better known to WWE fans as ‘Kid Kash’, fought in a professional MMA bout in late 2016, and let’s just say it didn’t exactly go according to plan for the star!
Prior to his fight with Lindsey Jones at Valor Fights 38 on November 5th, 2016 the 47-year-old Cash was revelling in the fact that another former WWE star CM Punk’s had crashed and burned in his MMA debut in the UFC’s Octagon just a few months earlier.
I’ve never liked him, Kash told mmafighting.com. I’ve known the guy for at least 15 years, probably, and he’s been such an arrogant asshole. He was handed so much sh*t. He never earned a f*cking thing.”
While not as big a star as Punk, Cash had a successful wrestling career in his own right that included winning titles for both the ECW and TNA Wrestling promotions, before signing with the WWE promotion in 2005, where he’d win their cruiserweight championship.

A falling out with WWE chairman Vince McMahon led to him being released in September 2006, but he’d go onto compete for several more years in the regional circuit in addition to another lengthy stint in TNA, before announcing his retirement in late 2015.
Cash had also previously tried his hand at MMA in 2008, losing by decision in a bout with Bryan Brown, but eight years later he had the urge to try again and was convinced he’d do a better job than Punk, who he claimed, couldn’t beat my meat.
I’m kind of amazed that he had the camp that he had for two years and went down that quick and with no defense whatsoever,” Cash said of Punk’s first round submission loss to Mickey Gall.
Despite being less than impressed by Punk’s performance, it turned out that Cash would fare even worse in his fight at Valor FC just a few months later.

Cash came off second-best in an early exchange of punches with Jones, with his legs buckling under him after eating a right hand, before a series of uppercuts dropped him to the canvas for the TKO finish.
The entire fight had lasted just 39 seconds, and based on that performance it’s unlikely that he’ll be in a hurry to return to the cage again anytime soon.
