Fighter losing badly – gets the win with one perfect shot, and the crowd goes crazy!

‘It ain’t over till the fat lady sings.’ That phrase certainly applies in this case. It seems the fighter was on his way to a loss. Being side mounted, he makes his way to his feet but his opponent runs him to the fence and starts throwing bombs.

The fighter was able to make a little space to drop a fighting ending bomb of his own.

They don’t get much more perfectly placed than that.

The term knockout is often associated with a sudden traumatic loss of consciousness caused by a physical blow, like the one you just watched. Single powerful blows to the head (particularly the jawline and temple) can produce a cerebral concussion or a carotid sinus reflex with syncope and cause a sudden, dramatic KO. Basically, it’s not that good for you.

Little is known about what exactly causes one to be knocked unconscious, but many agree it has to do with a trauma to the brain stem. This usually happens when the head rotates sharply, often as a result of a strike.

There are three general manifestations of such trauma – the typical knockout, which results in a sustained loss of consciousness, a “flash” knockout, when a very transient loss of consciousness occurs, and the recipient often maintains awareness and memory of the combat, and, lastly, a “stunning,” knockout when the consciousness is maintained despite extremely distorted proprioception, visual fields, and auditory processing.

MMA fighter Travis Fulton currently holds the record for most KO’s at 92. (In over 300 fights). Boxing legend Billy Bird holds the record in his sport at 138 KO’s during his career.

That’s handing out a lot of head trauma!
