Tyrone Spong is a world-class kickboxer who was a champion in both Glory and It’s Showtime promotions at 95kg.

He’s beaten some really tough guys throughout his kickboxing career too like Ray Sefo, Melvin Manhoef, Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky and many others.

After suffering a pretty brutal leg injury during a fight with another elite level kickboxer, Gökhan Saki, Tyrone Spong turned his sights on other fight sports like boxing and MMA too like we see in the video below.

In case you missed it, during his fight with Saki, Spong threw a leg kick which Saki checked that caused his lower leg to completely fracture much like what happened with Anderson Silva during the second Chris Weidman fight. Interestingly enough, Saki is also transitioning to an MMA career too and is making his UFC debut in September.

In this video though, we see Spong make his MMA debut in the WSOF from 2012 against alleged boxer Travis Bartlett but BoxRec has nothing on him so perhaps he was just an amateur. He certainly doesn’t look like a very high-level boxer in this fight.

Spong dominates this fight and really puts on an incredible display of elite level striking. He’s not just a pure kickboxer either though as he’s been training with the Blackzilian crew of MMA fighters for years like Rashad Evans and Alistair Overeem.

Spong is now focusing his attention on professional boxing and while he is currently 9-0 and obviously very successful in that endeavor, it is almost too bad he’s not focusing on MMA as judging by his performance here, he could have made some noise.
